Heany Park Primary School Playground
A versatile school playground combining strength, climbing and imaginative play in one cohesive space.

Project Overview

Project Overview

Heany Park Primary School’s new playground is a thoughtfully layered play space that brings together multiple Activity Playgrounds ranges to suit the school’s needs for durability, variety and long-term flexibility. By combining Fortitude, Perseverance, Instinctive and Resilience elements, the result is a cohesive playground that supports active play, imaginative play and social connection across different age groups.

Design and Layout

The playground layout centres around a Fortitude range combination unit, creating a strong focal point for climbing, sliding and elevated play. From there, the space branches out into complementary zones, allowing students to move between high-energy challenges and quieter, imaginative play without the area feeling cluttered or disjointed.

Natural materials, steel structures and carefully selected colours work together to create a playground that feels welcoming within the school environment, while remaining robust enough for everyday school use.

Play Elements

This project showcases how different ranges can be combined to tailor a playground to specific requirements:

  • Fortitude Range

    • Main combination unit providing height, climbing, slides and physical challenge

  • Perseverance Range

    • Climbing cube adding upper body strength, coordination and confidence-building obstacles

  • Instinctive Range

  • Resilience Range

    • Spinner element offering inclusive, rotational play and sensory engagement

The Result

A dynamic school playground that balances strength, movement and imagination while demonstrating how Activity Playgrounds’ ranges can be seamlessly combined. The space is designed to evolve with students over time, delivering longevity, visual warmth and high play value in a busy school setting.
