A Play Space Built to Grow With the School
Our project at Warreen Primary School delivered a multi-zoned playground designed to support students of all ages. With custom-built equipment, durable Australian-made materials, and thoughtful design, this large-scale play space is ready to inspire active, social, and imaginative play for years to come.

  • A large-scale school playground project featuring dedicated junior, intermediate, and senior areas. The brief called for durable, low-maintenance equipment that could support high activity levels, with rope play, nets, and combination units that promote physical development and creative play.

Design & Installation Approach

Play spaces are a vital part of any primary school, and Warreen Primary School (formerly Truganina Primary School) is no exception. Activity Playgrounds was proud to be chosen to design and construct the outdoor play and recreation areas for this vibrant new school. One of the unique challenges during installation was the rocky ground conditions, which required the use of a 4.5-ton excavator with a rock auger to reach appropriate depths. With the right equipment and a skilled installation team, the works were completed smoothly and to a high standard.

Playground Features & Materials

This large-scale project included a variety of play elements tailored to multiple age groups: a senior area, intermediate zone, and junior play space. In total, the project included two 6-metre pyramid nets, three play cubes, two rope structures, more than 213 posts, 800 linear metres of timber, and numerous overhead play features. It was also the first time we applied a ‘weathered steel’ powder coat finish, giving a unique look to the posts, platforms, and support bars—complementing the surrounding landscape while offering long-lasting durability.

Outcome & Community Impact

Completed in November 2023, the new play areas at Warreen Primary School now offer dynamic, age-appropriate spaces that encourage physical development, creativity, and social interaction. Built with Australian-made materials and designed for longevity, this project is a testament to our commitment to creating meaningful, engaging play environments for schools and communities across the country.
