Bridgewater Boulevard Reserve Playground
A local playspace designed for movement, variety and connection

Project Overview

Project overview

Delivered as part of the City of Casey’s Annual Playground Renewal Program, the upgraded playground at Bridgewater Boulevard Reserve in Berwick South VIC provides a refreshed, family-focused play space designed to meet modern safety, accessibility and play expectations.

Shaped by community feedback, the playground brings together a mix of climbing, swinging, nature play and sensory elements to create a well-rounded local playspace suited to short, frequent visits. The result is a welcoming neighbourhood playground that supports active play, social interaction and everyday use by local families.

The playspace has been designed as a cohesive, all-ages environment where each element works together to deliver a balanced mix of play opportunities. A modified version of our Fortitude Wattlebird Combination Unit, custom Native agility trail and a range of Resilience elements are integrated throughout the layout, creating a space that supports varied abilities and play styles.

The Wattlebird unit provides accessible, imaginative play for younger users, while the Native agility trail introduces more challenging movement-based elements suited to older children. A prominent activity net further enhances the space, offering climbing and upper-body challenges that encourage strength, coordination and confidence-building.

Design and layout

The layout has been carefully planned to create a compact yet highly functional neighbourhood playspace, allowing multiple play experiences to coexist while maintaining clear sightlines and ease of supervision.

Rather than relying on a single dominant structure, the design distributes play opportunities across the site, encouraging movement between elements and supporting both independent and social play. The combination of structured, dynamic and agility-based elements creates a natural flow through the space, with opportunities for children to explore at their own pace.

The integration of Fortitude, Native and Resilience elements allows the playground to balance durability, visual warmth and play diversity. Steel in-ground posts provide long-term structural strength, while timber elements introduce a natural aesthetic that sits comfortably within the surrounding environment.

A playground designed to inspire courage, confidence, and resilience through movement and exploration.
