Project overview

Chiltern Recreation Reserve now features a new playground delivered for Indigo Shire Council as part of the reserve’s wider master plan. The project responds to the plan’s focus on improving the reserve and surrounding areas while adding a different style of play to the existing playground at Martin Park.

The playground includes our Quokka Combination Unit from the Resilience range, alongside a double swing. With a focus on climbing, upper-body movement and connected challenges, the design introduces more variety to the play opportunities available across the precinct.

Design and layout

The Quokka Combination Unit is built around a series of roofed platforms connected by an arched bridge and crawl tunnel. Multiple access points give children different ways to enter and move through the structure, with climbing, balancing and overhead activities incorporated along the way.

The challenges extend out from the main tower, creating a longer sequence of movement rather than a single route through the equipment. Children can climb, cross, hang and balance before returning to ground level via the single or double slide.

Interactive panels provide additional play at the lower levels, while the double swing offers a separate activity alongside the main structure. Dark green posts and bright green details suit the open reserve setting and give the playground a clear, cohesive look.

Play Elements

Children can choose their own way through the Quokka Combination Unit, moving between climbing, balancing, upper-body and slide activities. The mix provides plenty of variation for repeat play, while the double swing extends the experience beyond the main structure.
