Lipscombe Park Playspace, Croydon
Inclusive, multi-age play designed for movement and connection

Project Overview

Project overview

As part of Maroondah City Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works Playspace Improvement Program, Activity Playgrounds was engaged to design and deliver a renewed playground at Lipscombe Park in Croydon VIC.

The upgraded playspace introduces a diverse mix of inclusive and engaging play elements, designed to support physical activity, social interaction and developmental play across a wide age range. The result is a well-balanced community playground that encourages movement, exploration and connection within a highly utilised local park setting.

The project is anchored by a Fortitude range combination unit, complemented by select elements from our Resilience range to introduce additional play variety and durability where needed.

Built using steel in-ground posts for long-term structural integrity, combined with natural timber elements for warmth and visual appeal, the playground achieves a balance of strength, longevity and aesthetic integration within the surrounding park environment.

Design and layout

The playground layout was designed to create a connected and accessible play environment, allowing multiple play experiences to operate simultaneously while maintaining clear sightlines for supervision.

Two large play units form the centrepiece of the space, offering a variety of climbing, sliding and interactive elements that encourage both independent and social play. These are supported by upper-body challenges and standalone equipment, creating natural movement between zones and promoting active engagement across the entire playspace.

The integration of Fortitude and Resilience elements allows the space to deliver both visual warmth and high-performance durability, while accommodating a wide range of users through varied play opportunities.

Multi-age swing options and ground-level play elements ensure accessibility for different abilities, supporting inclusive use across the community.
