Project Overview

Located within the scenic surrounds of Mount Evelyn Recreation Reserve, this playground upgrade creates a welcoming destination for local families, sporting clubs and visitors to the reserve.

Surrounded by established bushland and positioned alongside the Mount Evelyn Football and Netball Club facilities, the playground was designed to complement the natural character of the site while providing a broad range of play experiences for children of varying ages and abilities.

The design incorporates nature-inspired play elements, accessible connections and opportunities for physical challenge, encouraging children to climb, balance, swing, spin and explore. Carefully selected timber and steel elements provide a durable, low-maintenance solution while maintaining a warm, natural aesthetic that sits comfortably within the surrounding landscape.

Design & Layout

Designed for a reserve surrounded by established bushland, the playground combines nature-inspired play elements with accessible connections and opportunities for active exploration. At its centre is the Wedge Tail Nest tower, creating a striking focal point while encouraging climbing, discovery and imaginative play through its elevated lookout and enclosed tube slide.

The layout provides a balance of challenge and accessibility, with pathways connecting key play elements, gathering spaces and seating areas throughout the reserve. Additional features including the inclusive timber spinner, monkey bars and swing set offer a variety of play experiences for children of different ages and abilities.

The colour palette was carefully selected to complement the surrounding environment, with natural timber finishes, deep green steelwork and muted green play components helping the playground blend seamlessly into its bushland setting while maintaining a strong visual presence.
