Project Overview

Located in Berwick, VIC, the upgraded playground at Barry Simon Reserve for the City of Casey delivers a vibrant, sport-inspired playspace designed to complement its position within an active football precinct.

Built entirely from our Resilience Range, this project focuses on durability, low maintenance and high play value, making it ideal for a high-use public environment. The playground brings together a custom-designed combination unit with a range of standalone elements to create a well-rounded space for climbing, swinging, balancing and social play.

With colours inspired by the local football club, the playspace feels connected to its surroundings while creating a strong visual identity within the reserve.

Design & Layout

A playground designed to inspire courage, confidence, and resilience through movement and exploration.

The layout is centred around a custom Resilience combination unit, specifically designed to suit the site and maximise play opportunities within the available space. The structure incorporates multiple access points, varied climbing challenges and elevated play areas, encouraging continuous movement and exploration.

Attached to the main structure, a climbing cube adds another layer of challenge, while surrounding elements are carefully positioned to create clear circulation and open play zones.

The design also reflects the sporting context of the reserve, with football-themed play elements and colour selections tying the playground back to the adjacent oval and community use of the space.

The use of all-steel construction with HDPE panels ensures long-term durability, minimal maintenance and strong performance in outdoor conditions, making it well-suited to a busy community reserve like Barry Simon Reserve.
